Time and Minutes

Time and Minutes leads us back to skin types which I wrote about previously, if you missed it quickly jump back!

Not every person has the same skin type or tans in the same way!

The following are some reasons why time recommendations may vary from one facility to another:

  • Different type of equipment (high-pressure vs low-pressure)
  • Different type of lamps (more or less UVB)
  • Different type of lamps (more or less wattage)
  • Maximum exposure schedule (i.e, 12 minutes vs 20 minutes)
  • New lamps

This is why when you head to the salon they ask you tons of question  – the last time you tanned, the type of bed you regularly use, etc…

Your tanning history is just as important as a skin type analysis.

USUALLY you would start off with a low amount of minutes. Start low and work your way up.

6 minutes for a month, 8 minutes the next month and then to 10 minutes but again it totally depends on how your skin and body can handle the UV and of course THE HEAT!!

Please see my other blog on re-tubing and different types of sunbed because they all vary.

Normally I would advise people to visit a sunbed salon twice a week for no more than 10 minutes per session if they were wanting to build a good tan in a reasonable amount of time and of course SAFELY!

Again, it all depends on your skin type. I can take four sunbeds at 10 minutes each session through two weeks and be a rich dark colour, a colour my friend Stacey would be if she took 8 sunbeds for the same length of minutes in six weeks.

KNOW YOUR SKIN!

AND REMEMBER GOING TO THE SUNBEDS EVERY DAY WILL NOT GIVE YOU A TAN QUICKER. THINK OF IT LIKE EXERCISING, GIVE YOURSELF REST DAYS AND THIS WILL ACTUALLY ENHANCE YOUR TAN!!! TRUST ME
